Led Zeppelin do not have three top ten singles in the US. They have one. "Whole Lotta Love" went to #4 in 1969. Where did you get your information?

Never. Zeppelins have sold 300 million albums

Says who? Their own record label says they sold 200 million. The 300 million figure originated as Wikipedia vandalism that was never corrected and was subsequently picked up by the likes of CNN. More fuel for my Led Zeppelin hate.

And, by the way, my parents were in their late twenties and early thirties during the 1970s, and they never even heard of Led Zeppelin. They sure knew Stevie Wonder, though.

Yeah, I count 17, so it isn't a lot. That surprises me, though, because Western music is fairly well known (especially the biggest hits). I've heard Kanye a lot in 7-11 and I know a bunch of people who listen to LMFAO or Queen or whoever.

... I was thinking of 70`s artists off the top of my head when I posted that but should have been more specific but I`m not surprised if the overal number is 17 .... thanks for total number ....Take care

How about Zep's songwriting?

It's pretty lame. Playing the same riff over and over again for four or five minutes. They would have stretched "Substitute" into half an album. As for their lyrics, well... baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby.

Of course. Anyone who was a semi-regular presence on Top Forty radio they were aware of.

I was a teenager in the late 60`s to the early part of the 70`s and certainly knew of Zeppelin (purchased their albums as soon as they came out) as did everyone I knew when attending university in the mid 70`s and suspect my parents knew who they were as one of the groups to which they would yell ... turn that music down .... if you ever purchased a Circus, Rolling Stone, Creem, Melody Maker and any other such publication in those days you could not miss who Zeppelin were .... Take care

Just as I thought. Why is it that gminer's data doesn't reflect that?

As I would have thought. But again, why is it that his name doesn't appear in the information you gave on the previous page?

I dunno, but The Who won "Band of the Year" in Rolling Stone magazine as voted by readers and critics in late 1979.
