Possible inclusions in top 200 should be Big Country, Midnight Oil, and Simple Minds could be up a touch higher.

What about The Who? Two top ten albums, two top forty hits, several more mainstream rock radio hits, and two of the largest tours of the decade. Their 1982 tour was the biggest of the year. That's like having the biggest album of the year. And their 1989 tour was the second-biggest of the year, behind only the Rolling Stones.

I could see them just after The Clash.

Well they should be considering Flock of seagulls is on the list with one song!

They actually had three top 30 hits and two top twenty albums.

(I'm not saying The Who doesn't belong, just saying that Flock wasn't really a one-hit wonder.)

Two artists that are on the list that I don't really see are Accept and John Farnham. I'd think that The Who, Midnight Oil, and Big Country are all more deserving than those 2 artists.

Another band to be given consideration is The Alarm, one of my favourites from the 80's. They had a reasonable following sold 5 million albums and 16 UK top 50 singles. I think they had some US top 50's.

The Alarm had a few rock radio hits in America, and they had one minor pop hit ("Sold Me Down the River") in 1989, which was also a huge rock radio hit ("68 Guns" and "Strength" were also pretty popular on rock radio well).

Was thinking maybe Journey could take the top 30 spot instead of Crue... They were both big sellers but Journey still beats out Crue decently on sales in this period, Escape being abnormally well selling, plus their other albums being monster sellers too...

Journey is probably a more popular albums artist and definitely a more popular singles artist than Crue, and Crue scores next to nothing in any of the criteria besides popularity. I'd support not only Journey ahead of Crue, but also Mellencamp and the Beastie Boys, and maybe others.

I think I'd switch Def Leppard and Guns N' Roses, since this is just the eighties.

Hüsker Dü are too influential to not be in the Top 100.

EDIT: New Order seem awfully low, too.
